EngineEngine
Need... More... Power!

The engine in the car right now is really stock. For now I just try to keep it clean for shows. I've done some small restoration and a little bit of tuning, but that's all for now. It's a 5.0 litre (302 CI) High Output V8. According to my track numbers it puts down 215 HP at the fly wheel and about 190 HP at the wheels. Ford says it produces 275 ft/lb torque. It makes peak HP and torque at 4200 RPM and uses Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection.

Ford starting putting this (more or less) exact motor in Mustangs in 1986 and discontinued use in Mustangs in 1995. It's a roller block with a single cam that uses pushrods and over head valves. Air is directed into the engine from under the car and through a sealed panel filter. The air is metered with a Mass Air Flow (or MAF) system, regulated by a mechanical single bore 55mm throttle body and fuel is delivered by 19 lb/hr fuel injectors. I currently use Ford Oil Filters (FL-1A) and Spark Plugs (Autolite 764s). Overall it's a great engine, but compared to what's in a lot of today's high performance vehicles, it has a long way to go.
